Sonata for Violin and Piano: Opus 17

Composed in 2020 in four movements, This sonata features elements of Chinese, Greek, and Western classical music. The first movement (Andante) is a sonata-allegro that contrasts a stately theme with stormier sections. The second movement (Vivace) is agitated but contains a peaceful trio section evoking of Chinese folk music. The third movement (Adagio) is a slow meditation that recalls elements of the first movement. The last movement (Rondo greco) is a Greek folk dance. Between its repetitions, a well-known Chinese song (Shepherd's Song) is quoted. The stately theme of the first movement also reappears with great fervor and the work ends with a rousing acceleration.
